Psalm 104:33: “I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.”
The LCS Choral program seeks to develop students who will use their musical abilities in life-long service to the Lord in their churches and their communities. It is our goal to train students to pursue excellence in singing while using their gifts in worship and service. Students develop and refine musicianship skills, including choral performance techniques, vocal tone production, music literacy and music appreciation while developing an understanding of the role of music in the life of the believer and the impact of music upon the listener.
The following performing organizations offer this opportunity for our students:
All LCS choirs perform in school-sponsored events such as the Christmas musical and the Spring Awards concert. Choirs also perform the national anthem for LCS football games each season.
LCS Choirs are actively involved in the Florida Vocal Association, District 12. High school and middle school choirs annually participate in District Solo & Ensemble Festival and Music Performance Assessment, earning consistent Superior ratings since 2009. The High School Concert Choir and Chamber Ensemble have also performed at the State level MPA since 2009, earning straight Superior ratings for Chamber Ensemble and multiple Superior ratings for Concert Choirs in recent years.
In addition, the entire choral program is involved in the greater Lakeland community, with performances and ministries to nursing homes and community groups. Concert Choir and Chamber Ensemble traditionally perform in such events as Epcot’s Candlelight Processional, and the Junior High Choir frequently performs at Disney Springs.
Sixth Grade Choir and Junior Viking Voices participate in the regional Choral Festival sponsored by the Association of Christian Schools International, consistently earning Superior ratings.
Mrs. Wendy Carl serves as the Director of Secondary Choirs, and Mr. Jordan Burks serves as the Director of the Junior Viking Voices.
